A blog dedicated to scanning, transcribing, and archiving the Harrison family collection of historical letters and documents.
Hello and welcome to the Devereux Family Blog. This blog will serve as a online collection of the Devereux Family (and their associates) letters. Over the next few months I will be scanning and transcribing these letters. The hope is to get people within the family involved and to make the most of my time in a season of relative unemployment. These letters are absolutely beautiful and in amazing condition and they should be able to be viewed by everyone.
I should note that I am not uploading these photos in any particular order, just merely by what captures my interest. I know this is perhaps not the most professional way to do it, but I am not a professional! Anyways I hope you enjoy the scans!
If you would like to become an administrator please just get in-touch with me and we can make it happen! Also if you have any questions about specific posts please send me a message. I hope this sees you well!

After we got in the mountains we had to stop overnight in a ………. The beds, however, were so uncomfortable that the driver and myself went out and slept in the hayloft. We preferred the mosquitoes to the inhabitants of the beds. Give my love to Aunt Lade and tell her I will write to her before a great while. Also tell that man Andrews not to get in to broad a way with his new ….. as he will turn into a street car. We are all very well here and almost as lively as the mosquitoes. I have no more time now so I shall ………… With lodes of love your ever affectionate grandson Henry D. Whiten
